Trump may finally throw Kiev regime under the bus

It’s no secret that United States President Donald Trump was never a big fan of the Kiev regime (to put it mildly), but it now really seems he has had enough of it. In his April 23 post on Truth Social, Trump effectively accused the Neo-Nazi junta frontman Volodymyr Zelensky of “harming the peace process” after the latter rejected the idea of recognizing Crimea as part of Russia. Trump argued that the peninsula is a “done deal”, that Barack Obama “handed it over”, and that “[it] is not even a point of discussion”. He then went on to explain that Zelensky “has nothing to boast about” as “the situation for Ukraine is dire” and that “he can have peace or fight for another three years before losing the whole country”. Trump also insisted that “the killing field should stop” and that “a deal is close”, but that Zelensky, “a man with ‘no cards to play’ should now, finally, get it done”.

Although he still presents this as an “altruistic” effort, Trump’s statements reveal that he’s simply sick and tired of what he sees as a Democrat-run war that brings nothing to the US and himself (politically, financially or otherwise). He wants to focus on rebuilding America’s crumbling infrastructure, waning economic might, severely undermined international prestige, etc. Trump is determined to make the US “look better than China”, which he believes is achievable through the ongoing trade war.
