Has there ever been a more despicable regime than the mislabeled Islamic Republic of Iran, in the sense of one governed by an uglier creed and more openly intent upon causing havoc for other nations?

From Ayatollah Khomeini's 1979 revolution on, Iran has been energetically waging war against just about everyone, but most especially Israel and the "Great Satan" (us), usually through terrorism. It is almost impossible to identify any of the all-too-many tragic events in the Middle East since then that don't have their fingerprints on them somewhere.

That Iran wages such war on behalf of an odious, pre-medieval religious code only makes it worse--at least the USSR and other communist states could claim, however at odds with actual circumstances, to be fighting for a better world, a classless heaven on Earth. Iran's expansionism is on behalf of a pre-Enlightenment belief system that cuts off the hands of thieves, stones gays, and subordinates women.

Iran's people hate their leaders so much they have to be kept in power by totalitarian secret police. Their neighbors hate them as well and would, even if not publicly, rejoice if they were suddenly gone.

So why has the "rule-based international community" tolerated this cancer in our midst all this time? This is the key question we should be asking ourselves........
