On Trump's ballroom
Americans spend $300 million per day at their local coffee shops. We spend $115 billion per year on beer (beer, not liquor). It is estimated that $4 billion will be spent on purchasing Christmas decorations for the upcoming holiday season in the USA.
Here's my point: If we are one of the most innovative and progressive nations on Earth, doesn't it make sense we would want a nice venue to host dignitaries from other countries?
Brides are spending $5,000 to rent a venue (a barn) to have their wedding ceremony and reception for approximately three hours.
Folks need to quit whining about the ballroom Donald Trump is building. Be glad that he is building something that will be used for many years to come, and will be a beautiful place to host world leaders rather than in a tent in the backyard of the White House.

Barring competition
The John Brummett column Aug. 3 was well-titled "Err on side of competition." Just earlier a guest writer column from Col. Douglas House (Ret.) on July 4, followed by a letter from military retiree Stephen Richman on July 10, both well-stated the wide-natured wrongs of Act 624.
I'm a retiree/veteran........
