Drama over addition
Oh, the drama trauma over an East Wing ballroom addition to the White House.
The east and west wings of the White House are architectural abominations with no respect for what we see as the White House--a stand-alone beautiful structure. Will the grand ballroom be a more pleasing architectural addition? I hope so.
It's called "The People's House." How many people used these major White House additions? Swimming pool: I suspect FDR was one of the few to use it--as therapy for his polio issues. Tennis court: used by a max of four people at a time. Bowling alley: max of two people at a time. Basketball court: max of 12 people at a time. Grand Ballroom: 1,000 people at a time.
I noticed that the first four were paid for with tax dollars; they were for the personal use of presidents, family and friends. The last is being paid for with private donations, for use by the government for large special events.
