Disdain for women
The War Department has done it again under the leadership of Herr Hegseth with his ludicrous stance on women in the military. His disdain for women is over the top.
During my years in the military, I worked with many women soldiers who were as good or better than some of the men. It worked both ways. Example: The soldier selected for first sergeant E8 of my unit could outshoot, pass PT tests with no problem, was tactically proficient and a positive leader for all of people in my unit. She led from the front. She ultimately retired as a command Sergeant Major E9. With her abilities, she was a sought-after soldier. I 100 percent supported her, as was my duty. There are many others I could name that were top-drawer soldiers.
What is his problem? Is Pete Hegseth a chauvinist pig or what? He seems to take pride in harming the valuable assets they represent. There was a captain that served in Desert Storm who told me how she survived the war with limited living conditions and other hardships, yet came home a highly decorated field soldier. She told me about the support she received while there.
As a nation we need women to serve in any capacity they are fit and qualified for. I also wonder why the top brass hasn't stated their positions. Scared of the wannabe Major or Donald Trump? It is my opinion that if the U.S. were to get into a major conflict, we are going to need many men and many women in all........
