Key to team's success

There are many reasons why Razorback baseball continues to perform at an elite level. Most fans point to the quality of players on the field and recently to those acquired through the portal as well as state-of-the-art training and development facilities. However, those who follow the team closely know there is another important common denominator.

A key, perhaps the key to Razorback baseball success, lies in Dave Van Horn, and the coaching and support staff he has brought together. Listening to television and radio announcers, and to the players themselves, the names Van Horn, Hobbs, Thompson, and Wernes come up repeatedly. These are the same coaches that identify and recruit those quality players and develop the talent that we have seen at Baum-Walker Stadium over the past few years.

The ability to take players "to the next level" and create an elite team are, in large part, a function of what Coach Van Horn and his staff bring to the program day in and day out. We've all heard coaches give credit to players by saying, "I don't hit or field the ball; they do," and then take personal responsibility when things go wrong. But it is those same coaches and the staff responsible for conditioning, nutrition, and rehabilitation who are major contributors to the Razorbacks' exceptional performance from year to year. As soon-to-be Hall of Fame inductee Norm DeBriyn recently said, "the job is 24/7."
