Lobbyists for people
If you want to have influence on current events but fear that your voice cannot reach far enough, you can join one of the many civic and social organizations that work on these issues. Do you care about the environment? Join the Nature Conservancy, Audubon Arkansas, or the Sierra Club. Do you care about voters' rights? Join the League of Women Voters or Indivisible. Do you care about women's rights? The American Association of University Women works for pay and job equity and quality education for girls. Moms Demand Action, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and on and on. The number of organizations is large and the coverage of issues is expansive.
There are many organizations that pursue social change and justice. Even if you can't rally at the Capitol, or testify before a legislature committee, you can pay your dues and support an existing organization that focuses on issues that you care about. These organizations need your support, both in numbers of members and financial. They are the people's lobbyists.

Recently a member of our courageous congressional delegation appealed to the people of Arkansas not to criticize Donald Trump's policies simply because they do not like him. I am afraid that this matter goes way beyond personal popularity.
