The place has the smell of new about it: New paint and new carpet. New plaster and new paneling. You know the smell. It's the smell of a new house. As if you could smell the caulking in the corners.
The Central Arkansas Library System re-opened the Main Library the other day, and we went by to see it. Spoiler alert: We might have found a new hiding spot.
For two years, the main branch in downtown Little Rock--the one that overlooks the River Market--has been closed for "extensive renovations." And, indeed, the place looks different--extensively--than the last time we saw it.........
