Each May, communities nationwide celebrate Older Americans Month – a reminder to honor older adults’ contributions and to strengthen the systems that help them stay healthy, connected, and independent.
Behind many of the meals delivered to homebound seniors, rides to medical appointments, caregiver support groups, wellness checks, and programs addressing loneliness are a network created nearly six decades ago through the Older Americans Act. At the heart of that network are the nation’s Area Agencies on Aging.
