Two cabinet ministers, Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke, the dean of the school, and even a prospective medical student were on hand as validators for the announcement Tuesday morning.

“The first new medical school in Western Canada in about 50 years,” declared Eby. “Applications are now open for the cohort, starting in August of next year. So students, get your applications in now.”
