Disabled parking is for disabled people, not pregnant women

A Florida law allows pregnant individuals to receive a one-year placard for disabled parking spaces.

The author, a double amputee, argues this law makes it harder for people with disabilities to find necessary parking.

When I go out, l wear prosthetic legs. I also require a walker and a wheelchair, which weighs more than 50 pounds. And I need my caregiver, who drives me places and assists me in transferring.

I have a valid Florida disabled parking permit. But in Florida, it is often difficult to find any of these parking spaces available on any given day or time. It is a great day when I can park in the accessible spot, which is wide enough to accommodate my medical devices.
