Everything about transgender ideology is a lie, so it follows that politicians supporting it are complicit in the lie, if not actively demanding agreement with it; the best current example being James Talarico. He’s the Democrat in the U.S. Senate race in Texas, and a lot of eyes are on him and his campaign. Talarico has toed the trans-ideology line for years to win local elections and his party’s Senate nomination. But now that he’s in a competitive general election, he compounds his deceit by lying about his position on youth sports. 

When Texas lawmakers drafted legislation in 2021 to protect girls from boys playing against them in public school sports, Talarico voted to kill it. Given his penchant for decrying opponents as “extremists and zealots,” one might think Talarico would vote to safeguard girls from the extreme zealotry of people who demand that bigger, stronger, faster boys compete against them. Instead, he thought it would be fine for boys to compete against girls.

Five years later, he’s singing a different tune, albeit with a soupçon of rhetorical legerdemain. He claimed in September that he would “oppose trans athletes playing in girls’ sports if it risks safety or fairness,” allowing Talarico to define what is safe and fair.
