Democrats love other people’s money. They pretend to hate capitalism, and they pretend to hate rich people, but they absolutely love other people’s hard-earned cash. But you’d think normal human decency would dictate, maybe not a pumping of the brakes, but at least taking their foot off the gas for a day, after a leftist tried to shoot his way into the White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner Saturday night and probably kill President Donald Trump and/or any number of members of his administration. If you thought that — something that would require common decency — you don’t know Democrats.

Within 90 minutes of the shooting, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sent out an email under the subject line, “everything. just. changed.” Silly me, I thought that an email at 10:20 pm on a Saturday might be at least an attempt at humility and self-awareness, what with how Democrats are the inspiration of pretty much all political violence in this country, but no.

I thought there might be some commentary on the tone of the political rhetoric Democrats use that inspires people to violence, but they don’t have that in them. “This could be the most important ask we have ever made of you. We just checked the latest polls — and we're absolutely STUNNED. We’re UP SIX POINTS against Republicans in the fight to take back the House Majority! We're calling for a historic response — 13,927 urgent Democratic gifts — to build our lead and fend off every last Republican attack. We would be so grateful for any generous gift you can spare to ensure,” they wrote.

They said nothing about that attempted murder, nothing about the officer shot (in his bulletproof vest, thankfully), only naked politics and a money grab.

“We need you to make a crucial choice at this moment. We can either let Trump shovel millions to Republicans, lose our shot to take back the House, and watch as MAGA Mike continues to do Trump's bidding as Speaker,” they continue. Note the use of the word “shot.”

Then they go on to ramp up the tone with, “Or we can rise up, drum up a historic response, and show Trump and Mike Johnson that their MAGA circus is FINISHED once and for all. Trump has hinged his disgusting agenda for his second term on keeping the House for his Republicans.”

The President’s agenda is “disgusting”?

I get that this email was likely drafted days earlier and scheduled to send at that time – which is a bit weird —because who is sitting at home on a Saturday night ready to donate to a political party? – but you can’t tell me they couldn’t have paused it after one of their own tried to kill people at the WHCA dinner.

“Leader Jeffries and House Democrats will do everything they can to dash any chance Trump and his Republicans have of holding onto power for four full years,” they go on. Does the “everything” Democrats are willing to do “to dash any chance of Trump and his Republicans have of holding onto power” include inspiring more murder? I mean, we can’t pretend this was the first time (or only the second).

As it wraps up, they write “But they're counting on a historic grassroots response to build our lead in the polls before it's too late!” Maybe they view nothing as “grassroots” as traveling across the country to commit political murder? After all, it’s not the first time they’ve inspired someone to travel from California to Washington in order to murder a conservative. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s would-be assassin, Nicolas Roske (now Sophie, because gender dysphoria is a serious mental illness), took that path only four years earlier.

Democrats know what they’re doing with their language; they understand just how crazy a disturbingly large percentage of their base is – they live in fear of them, so they direct as much of their anger at Republicans as possible. That there isn’t a body count of elected officials (yet) is a bit of a miracle and not for lack of trying.

Saturday was another obvious conclusion of who Democrats are these days. That they’ve all failed to this point is more luck and a testament to the skills of the Secret Service, not the determination of Democrats. Mark my words: it will happen again, and Democrats will try to fundraise off of that, too.
