In New York, a lawyer who tried to help President Donald J. Trump overturn the 2020 election has been formally disbarred. In Washington, three lawyers who helped prosecute loyalists of Mr. Trump for their role in the sacking of the U.S. Capitol have been fired by his new administration.

Where do we begin?

Let’s start with Kenneth Chesebro, who tried to rig the 2020 election for Mr. Trump by putting up fake slates of electors in several states to vote for Mr. Trump in the Electoral College. It was a blatant attempt to overturn a free and fair election that Mr. Trump decisively lost.
