Editorial: The fix in Schoharie County
The people of the state of New York have long entrusted the integrity of their elections to a two-party system of oversight. The Schoharie Country Board of Supervisors, though, would prefer to disregard that fundamental reality — and, it appears, the law.
The board decided to chuck tradition and legalities in ignoring the Schoharie County Democratic Committee’s pick for the county’s Board of Elections, and instead reappointed the 91-year-old incumbent, Clifford C. Hay, who has held the job for a half-century.
