At least we’re not angling to annex Greenland or Canada.
That’s one of the few positive takeaways from the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy, a document that sees the world not so much as it is but how Donald J. Trump wants to see it, blinders and all.

While administrations are certainly free to put their own goals, priorities and overall vision into these strategic documents, the White House’s latest version is studded with red flags. They signal America’s withdrawal from global leadership and the promotion of democracy, recasting the U.S. as more of a regional power content to let the world be carved up into spheres of influence — so long as we get our share of the pie.
