Editorial: Don't sell off Saint Rose campus without a plan
Last month, the board of the Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority selected a planning and engineering firm to develop a long-term redevelopment strategy for the former College of Saint Rose campus.
The Rochester-based firm CPL is being paid $500,000 to assess what Albany residents would like to see happen with the campus, and to explore what can realistically be done on the 27-acre site in the Pine Hills neighborhood, which was left less vibrant by last summer's shutdown of a college attended by thousands.

Hiring the firm was prudent, and we're looking forward to seeing what CPL comes up with after a process expected to take six months. The possibilities may not be endless, but with some creativity they're potentially surprising and intriguing.
