Q: What’s good for business and the economy, good for families and kids, fights poverty and could even help stem the flow of outmigration from New York?

A: It’s accessible, quality child care. And the fact that Gov. Kathy Hochul is featuring it prominently in her budget proposal is great news for New York.

In her State of the State, the governor earmarked $110 million for renovating and building child care centers across the state, with a particular focus on care “deserts” — regions where there aren’t enough slots to meet the demand.
