Commentary: Ticketing reform legislation will help keep live shows accessible

For too long, New York's live event ticketing landscape has been dominated by predatory practices that exploit fans and undermine the integrity of the entertainment industry. Legislation now pending marks a pivotal moment in addressing these longstanding issues and restoring fairness to the ticket marketplace.
Companion bills S8221/A.8659 introduce critical reforms aimed at protecting New Yorkers from exploitative ticketing practices, such as banning speculative ticket listings. The legislation would also let artists decide how their tickets are resold and place price caps on excessive ticket fees.
