The WNBA held Kids Day/Camp Games this week, a longtime league tradition of scheduling contests at noon or in the afternoon to enable summer campers and youth groups the opportunity to see women’s basketball at a family-friendly time.
Women’s basketball matinees filled with schoolchildren are only for the brave. Preventive dosages of pain relief medicine are often needed to make it through the high-pitched relentless screams.

But, seriously, it’s a delight to witness young girls and boys so thoroughly enjoying women’s sports.
“Man, I just hope they have a wonderful time,” said Caitlin Clark about Wednesday’s game against the Golden State Valkyries. “It gives them the opportunity to scream at the top of their lungs.”
Unfortunately for Fever fans, Clark’s return off the injured list was in a 80-61 win by Golden State.
