Sue Kahler of Ballston Spa’s 125-yard approach shot on 18 to three feet proved to be the shot of the day Wednesday as she completed a dramatic comeback to capture her third state championship at Columbia Golf and Country Club.

“I knew that we were probably close,” Kahler said, regarding the leaderboard she shared with Karen Feldman, who held the lead or was tied with Kahler throughout the day. “I knew that I probably had to birdie for maybe a playoff. I just took a little extra club and choked up on it.”

Kahler started the day two strokes back and finished with a 79 to capture the 18th state Women’s Super Senior Championship at 21-over. Karen Feldman, playing on her home course, carded scores of 80-82 (162) to finish one stroke off the lead on the par-70 layout. Feldman had a one-stroke lead courtesy of a hot putter late in the round going into the final hole.

The concurrently-run 72nd NYS Women’s Senior Championship featured another one-stroke comeback victory. Ingrid........
