The U.S. Women’s National Team lost to Japan 2-1 Wednesday in the SheBelieves Cup, ending a five-year run for the U.S. as champions.
But the first loss in the U.S. coach Emma Hayes era was not surprising, based on her stated priorities leading up to the finale in San Diego.
