Commentary: Boosting civics education creates a better workforce

As leaders in the business community, we recognize the critical role of an informed and engaged citizenry in fostering a stable, thriving economy. Civics education among K-12 students, college students and working adults is essential to that foundation.
Civics education equips students with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to participate effectively in democratic processes. It fosters critical thinking, problem-solving and the ability to engage in constructive dialogue — skills directly transferable to the workplace.
