If we cannot preserve our heritage, what can we do?

What will be left? Soul-less shoebox architecture … and a forgotten past.

Europe cherishes and preserves its ­history. We should be doing the same out of respect for the land and those who came before us.

What kind of place will we be leaving for our children?

Almost all Saanich councillors are intelligent and capable technocrats. We live in economically unstable times, though, and endorsing an upcoming nine per cent property tax increase may prove their undoing.

During the 2026 election, there’ll be a market for candidates to run against them as non-technocrats willing to say no to regular municipal employee wage increases.

Most Saanich councillors have already alienated a significant portion of the electorate with their endorsement of the Quadra-McKenzie plan and alternate approval process.

We live in unstable times, and intelligent people who thrive........
