Editorial: Let's not follow our southern neighbours
Thread by thread, it feels as if the ties that bind our country together are being teased apart.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced that Canadian doctors who trained abroad will only be given residency positions in that province if they have completed at least two years of high school in Ontario.
And if such a physician had two years of high school in B.C., or any other province? They won’t be admitted. Provincial politics apparently supersedes national unity.
Ford is deliberately giving the back of his hand to the rest of the country. Shameful.
B.C. Premier David Eby is doing all he can to prevent Alberta from building a bitumen pipeline through our province to the coast.
Whether such a project is feasible is unclear. But with all of the threats our economy faces, U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs among them, it makes no sense to turn aside such an opportunity.
Eby’s excuse is that such a pipeline, if built,........
