A commentary by a Saanich resident.

I am one of those individuals who objected to Saanich borrowing money for a new operations centre.

Why? Basically because Saanich council is so out-of-touch with their priorities and their constituents. They seem to focus on small projects (free menstrual products in washrooms!) and lack of judgment on major issues.

The original Quadra-McKenzie road plan was an obvious disaster. Why such a flawed plan even made it out of the confines of the municipal hall into the public sphere shows how little Saanich council thinks before acting.

The draconian rules established against dogs is another action where council demonstrated a tremendous lack of judgment, and an unwillingness to listen to constituents.

Their desire to move to 30 km/h road limits is laughable. My car almost coasts at more than 30 km/h. The only reason our residential roads are........
