New Delhi: Two days after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as the Union education minister, the impasse between the opposition and the government continued in parliament on Monday (July 27). While the opposition demanded a statement from Union home minister Amit Shah in the House over the police action against protesters, the government sought that the legislative business should begin with a discussion on The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

The day began with opposition MPs staging a protest outside parliament holding banners that read, “exam chori, chanda (donation) chori, vote chori”. Inside the House, the opposition demanded a statement from Shah as soon as proceedings started. Amid the din, MoS PMO Jitendra Singh introduced the The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, at noon, before the House was adjourned again till 2 pm.

Speaking outside parliament to reporters, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the police are filing FIRs against students who had participated in the protests.
