IDF intercepts missile from Yemen, 68th launched by Houthis since March
The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen fired a ballistic missile at Israel early Tuesday morning, causing sirens to sound in central Israel and in Jerusalem-area towns.
The Israel Defense Forces said the missile was successfully intercepted by air defenses. There were no reports of impacts or injuries.
The Houthis, in a statement, claimed to have targeted Ben Gurion Airport.
Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip following the collapse of a ceasefire there, the Houthis in Yemen have launched 68 ballistic missiles and at least 18 drones at Israel. Several of the missiles have fallen short.
Tuesday’s attack was the first such incident since the Houthis on Sunday attempted a drone attack on Israel.
