The air of Evian-les-Bains in France is toxic to Jews and Israel

The two Evian-les- Bains, France’s events, Evian conference of 1938 and 2026 G7 summit, have much in common: toxicity toward Jews and Israel.

The air of French resort along Lake Geneva, the Evian-les-Bains, where on July 15, 1938, happened an Evian conference and from June 15 to 17, 2026 was a G7 summit, is permeated with negativity toward Jews and Jewish State.

In September of 1938, the persecution of Jews in Germany by Nazis reached the unimaginable level. The government of Germany had legislated and started to implement the Nuremberg Laws, which main purpose was to marginalize and humiliate their countrymen and women of Jewish ancestry. In March of 1938, the Nazis annexed Austria to Germany (the Anschluss). The vicious Nuremberg Laws were now applicable to the Jews of Austria and Nazis were forcefully implementing the policy of ethnic cleansing. Thousands upon thousands of German and Austrian Jews were trying to escape the oppression and cruelty. But there were not many countries who would outstretch hand of help to these desperate people and this situation resulted in the Jewish refugee crisis.

The president of United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, responded to the tragedy of the European Jews by calling on other countries heads of state to meet and look for the solution to the plight of Jewish exiles. The suggestion by United States could’ve been seen as a genuine humanitarian move yet its hypocrisy was evident by the country’s own restrictive immigration policy and no desire to change it.

Right from the beginning of the Evian conference, the representatives of United States and Great Britain were defying the purpose of the meeting-to help the German and Austrian immigrants. They refused to increase the immigration quotas and thus torpedoed the resolution of the crisis. Considering the U.S. and Great Britain attitude toward the disaster, the representatives of other countries responded with the same........
