A Case Study in Loaded Questions

A private correspondent recently posed two questions so skillfully loaded with distortion that, left unchallenged before an uninformed audience, they could persuade thousands to accept a genocidal narrative dressed as moral concern. These are the exact scripts that circulate on campuses, in newsrooms, and on social media whenever Israel dares to survive. Because the technique is poisonous and effective, it deserves public dissection.

The questions were:

  • Was there “causation” for the October 7 massacre?
  • Absent the Bible, what gives Jews the better claim to the land over the “huge majority of non-Jewish people living there in the last 400 years or so”?
  • Both are designed to force the Jewish respondent into a corner: concede wrongdoing or appear to rely only on scripture. Both depend on selective timelines, inverted history, and the quiet erasure of Jewish indigeneity.

    October 7 had no Israeli causation whatsoever. 

    It breached a 16-month ceasefire. Hamas planned the assault for years, spent hundreds of millions diverted from humanitarian aid, and chose Simchat Torah because maximum civilians would be home. The 1988 Hamas Charter—written when Israel occupied zero inches of Gaza—explicitly calls for killing Jews wherever they are found.........
