Nationalistic fervour is often used by people in power to further their own ends. To consolidate one’s position politicians often invoke nationalist sentiment and deflect people’s attention from the real issues. Thailand-Cambodia conflict can be seen in this light. While there has been a border dispute between the two countries for long.
