Why Did the Pentagon Just Nix a Troop Deployment to Poland?

The decision to cancel the upcoming deployment to Poland, a model NATO ally, may have been related to the costs of Operation Epic Fury.
Approximately 4,000 United States Army personnel can return the Polish guidebooks, and they won’t have a chance to sample the authentic pierogis and kielbasa. On Thursday, the United States Department of Defense (DoD) abruptly canceled a planned deployment of the soldiers to Poland.
The move comes just two weeks after the Pentagon announced it would withdraw roughly 5,000 troops from Germany, redeploying them to the United States or other posts.
The sudden cancellation is reportedly part of an unspecified “realignment” of US military forces in Europe, The New York Times reported, citing three US Army officials. The changes reportedly “caught many military officials off guard.”
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is also reported to have canceled a Biden-era plan to station a missile-equipped artillery unit in Europe.
