A Caroga Lake woman has been arrested, accused of stealing more than $50,000 from a Johnstown resident.

Stacy Holliday, 59, of Caroga Lake, was arrested Sept. 30 on a warrant and charged with second-degree grand larceny, a felony, New York State Police said Tuesday.

The investigation began in June 2024 when police were notified of a theft in Johnstown, police said.

Investigators allege Holliday used a credit card of the victim, who is known to her, without the victim’s knowledge from 2022 to 2024, police said.

In the process, Holliday is accused of taking more than $50,000, police said.

Holliday surrendered on the charge, was arraigned and released to return to court later.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s administration warned on Tuesday of no guaranteed back pay for federal workers during a government shutdown, reversing what has been long-standing policy for some 750,000 furloughed employees, according to a memo being circulated by the White House.

Trump signed into law after the longest government shutdown in 2019 legislation that ensures federal workers receive back pay during any federal funding lapse. But in the new memo, his Office of Management and Budget says back pay must be provided by Congress, if it chooses to do so, as part of any bill to fund the government.
