On Saturday, Sept. 13, Caroga Arts Collective and the Fulton County Regional Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will team up to present the 13th annual Woofstock fundraiser.
“This year Woofstock will feature a full day of live music, including award-winning bands and artists such as Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra, Air Traffic Controller, Cleenstreet and Belle-Skinner. The grounds of Sherman’s will be full of vendors, raffles, non-musical entertainment, beer tasting, food trucks, dog-friendly fun, and more,” Caroga Arts Collective Founder, Artistic & Executive Director Kyle Price said.
Last year’s event raised more than $26,000 for the Fulton County SPCA.
“Last year was Caroga Arts’ first time collaborating on Woofstock, and it was an incredible event,” Price said. “The energy of the staff, volunteers, attendees, vendors and artists led to a memorable evening that included Sawyer Fredericks headlining. We look forward to this year’s event and continuing to see it grow and celebrate an important cause.”
This year’s edition of Woofstock will once again take place at Sherman’s Park, and it will have entertainment for all ages, including face painting, games and a magician. Food trucks also will be on hand, with their full menus available for purchase.
“Woofstock is a dog-friendly music and arts festival to benefit the Fulton County Regional SPCA,” Price said. “The Fulton County Regional SPCA is a fantastic organization that does so much for the whole community. Caroga Arts is thrilled to collaborate with them to bring this event to life and benefit an important cause in our region.”
Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome to attend the event. Retractable leashes are not allowed due to safety concerns.
This year’s event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Admission will cost $30 for attendees age 18 and older. Tickets for those age 13-17 will be $10. Tickets are available via pre-sale and at the door. Children younger than 12 will be admitted for free, but all attendees younger than 18 must have a parent or guardian onsite.
Tickets are available at www.tickettailor.com/events/carogaartscollective/1671519.
Funds raised by the event will benefit the Fulton County Regional SPCA and Caroga Arts.

Workers detained in a massive immigration raid of a Cato protein bar factory last week have already been deported to Guatemala. It took less than 72 hours for as many as a dozen of those workers to go from a factory floor in Upstate New York to a landing strip in Central America.
Advocates and families trying to get in touch with the roughly 70 people who were taken described breathlessly fast movement by federal authorities on a trip that herded the workers through as many as three different Border Patrol stations and immigration detention centers in two days.
Several volunteer lawyers rushed to the Batavia Immigration Center Saturday morning to try to help. By the time they got there they were told the workers were already gone, said Jessica Maxwell, director of the Workers Center of Central New York.
She is troubled by how fast the process moved, and by how little access the workers had to any kind of help. As long as they are kept in Border Patrol stations, they are not allowed to see or speak to anyone outside, not even a lawyer, Maxwell said.
“That’s a huge human rights violation,” she said.
