Our garage is full of stuff. Like so many of our neighbors, we barely have room in it for a car because of the shovels, rakes, lawnmowers, birdfeeders and other junk we accumulate.
But ours has other things: a set of dishes, mugs, glasses, tea kettle, pots and pans, toaster oven, broom and dustpan.
These things were supposed to be gone by now.
A small group of us has been collecting these items in order to give them to refugees from Afghanistan, a young couple and their baby, who were about to become new members of our community. Changing table, crib, kitchen table, chairs. You get the picture.
But the stuff just sits. It sits and sits the way our would-be neighbors, abandoned by the United States government, sit in a refugee camp in........
