America in need of kindness over cruelty

I hearken back to the days back in the late 1980’s when George Bush Sr. envisioned a “kinder and gentler nation.” My goodness, America has become cruel and callous under our current so-called leadership.

I’m just hoping and praying this will run its course and we can get back to a nation that truly cares for its own and others in the world.

Writer wrong about council vacancy plan

In response to her Nov. 7 letter, (“Let the people decide who represents them,”) former Schenectady City Council member Karen Zalewski-Wildzunas should do her homework before stating her opinion as fact.

Stating that in the past, empty seats were filled by voters is factually incorrect. In 2010, Carl Erikson was appointed to a vacancy, while Gary McCarthy was council president.

In 2014, Ed Kosiur was appointed to a vacancy, while Peggy King was council president. The only time interviews........
