We deserve more from legislature’s leaders
The hits to the taxpayers just keep on coming from our Schenectady County legislature leadership.
Reference Ted Remsnyder’s Aug. 29 report, (“Audit: County missed out on millions,”) on a recent state comptroller’s audit documenting how the county (read taxpayers) missed out on $5 million to $10 million dollars of income because the leadership did not develop and manage a comprehensive investment program in 2023 and 2024.
Instead, funds available for ongoing investment were simply placed in low-interest earning accounts. This is something like putting your excess cash under your mattress.
Majority leader Gary Hughes seemed to be thrilled that the audit only identified one area of note. No kidding! What’s 10 million here and there?
This is the same buffoon that championed tying future legislature’s compensation increases to agreements they negotiate with unionized county employees.
Apparently, Hughes will jump........
