Trump, Vance fail to uphold basic values
DJT has decided that only Whites need apply for immigration visas. I guess this means we should put our Statue of Liberty in mothballs for the next three years.
Remember, at her base it says, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…” These words have no meaning for this administration.
When Charlie Kirk was murdered, any federal employee who said a negative word about the man (who was a soft-spoken racist and homophobe) was fired from their job.
Yet when ‘Young’ Republicans (none of whom would qualify as juveniles) were recorded as joking about Hitler and gas chambers, JDV brushed their words off as the talk of kids.
My question: DJT and JDV, have you no shame?

Skepticism a valuable weapon against AI
Wisdom has always been a multifaceted discipline. It involves information, analysis, experience, intuition, insight, understanding and even faith.
Today, I urge you to include one more parameter — skepticism.
AI has made it possible to fool anyone. Things are made to look real that are not real. Pictures, videos and words can be created and posted with a few simple clicks.
I don’t fear AI; in fact I use it a lot. But I am skeptical of everything, and you should be too. PT Barnum said that a sucker is born every minute. With the technology we have today, millions of suckers will be made every minute. Don’t believe everything you see, hear or read.
True modern wisdom must include discernment and skepticism. I’m sorry to puncture your innocence, but please be forewarned. Not everything is as it seems, nor are these deceits as harmless as they appear.

Grateful to Gazette for “Forever” supplement
Personally, I am writing to commend The Gazette staff for being “responsive and responsible” for their Oct. 16 20-page supplement, “Forever In Our Hearts.”
On March 5 you were kind enough to publish my letter to the editor, “Consider changes to obituary presentation.” Last Thursday’s supplement went above and beyond what I had imagined.
This supplement is a great tribute to all our community folks that have passed on, and a wonderful keepsake for families, friends and possible researchers in the future.
Growing up and working in this community, I knew at least one person on every page of this fine added product to the folks who need a paper with their morning coffee or tea.
Thank you for your efforts. It was extremely heartfelt to see all the folks that have passed.

All Republicans must be voted out of office
I attended the No Kings rally in both Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs. In Glens Falls, I was a U.S. Navy veteran protestor who despises the lawlessness and cruelty of Trump.
In Saratoga Springs, I was an Indivisible de-escalator. My job was to keep the sidewalks clear and defuse any issues that arose. Thankfully everyone was mostly on their best behavior.
The Indivisible movement is entirely non-violent, so when the cowardly Speaker of the US House, Mike Johnson, says that the protestors are, “all the pro-Hamas wing and, you know, the antifa people,” he was of course lying.
Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Propagandist said, “The Democrat Party’s main constituency are made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals.” This is of course ridiculous propaganda designed to paint the protestors as un-American extremists.
The No Kings rally was an expression of concern about the authoritarian actions of the Trump administration. The United States presidency was not designed to give the office holder unitary powers. That would be the same power as a king, which was rejected by the founders of this democracy 250 years ago.
The Republicans in Congress have abdicated their Article 1 power. Republicans must be voted out everywhere to help congressional Republicans find their spines. I am not a fan of the Democratic Party and wish we had more choice. But at this time in history Republicans must be voted out of every office in the nation.

FDA should reverse its action on vital medicine
The FDA’s action on desiccated thyroid extracts (DTEs) puts women with hypothyroidism who rely on DTEs at risk.
As a nationally recognized women’s health expert with over 30 years of experience, I have seen how deeply hypothyroidism impacts women.
In fact, 1 in 8 women will develop a thyroid illness in her lifetime. Treating hypothyroidism must include DTEs as an option. For some patients, DTEs are the best treatment for them. Taking away this necessary option is a........
