We can’t abandon those in need of help
Many American families struggle to put food on the table. Nevertheless, according to Christian lobby group, Bread for the World, the recently passed federal budget will cut funding for critical nutrition programs.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds may be cut 30%. About 41 million people rely on SNAP benefits to nourish themselves and their families.
The federal government also abolished the United States Agency for International Development. This agency supported projects that provide food, water, and health care in famine-stricken and war-torn regions.
Although hunger has decreased in many countries, 45 million children around the world today are suffering from severe malnutrition.
Eliminating 90% of humanitarian and development assistance will harm countries in need of better agriculture, education, and industry.
Liberating nations from poverty can reduce the number of desperate families seeking asylum in America and bring hope to millions of children who hunger for love.
