This isn’t the America that I thought it was
Being a Baby Boomer, I grew up believing America was all it said it was. We were the good guys with the white hats. We saved the world and all the vets were heroes. We spread our wealth and democracy far and wide.
High school history glossed over a lot of our past as, well, history. Later, when I saw women shouting at little Black girls going to school down South, I still thought we were better than that.
Turns out I was wrong.
Turns out human slavery lasted for 246 years. Turns out 90% of the “noble red man” we grew up seeing on TV died from European diseases and the survivors were marched........
