In Saratoga County, the nonprofit Saratoga Children’s Literacy League has surpassed the 20,000 mark in the number of books its donated since its founding in 2023. League co-founders Erin Smith and Debra Nicastro started the organization as a way to increase literacy in the county by providing children with free books, regardless of income level. Through this month, they had donated 20,390 books. On Oct. 5, the league will host its Italian Sunday Supper for Literacy at the Principessa Elena Society in Saratoga Springs.
