EDITORIAL: School cell phone ban a victory for goals, consensus
There’s almost nothing that school administrators, teachers, teacher unions, parents, taxpayers and state government have more difficulty reaching consensus on than the best way to improve education for all our children.
But on one major problem on which there seemed to be general agreement — the negative impact of cell phones on learning, development and social conduct — those disparate interests have come as close to a universally agreeable solution as one could ever have thought possible.
Starting with the current school year, the state imposed a “bell-to-bell” ban on student cell phones in schools , unifying a patchwork of policies put forth in individual school........
