It’s called the “Distraction-Free Schools” Law.

With the idea that cell phones and other such devices have become so prevalent that they’re distracting from the educational mission and contributing to bullying and other undesired behavior, the state earlier this year passed a law to prohibit all unsanctioned student use of internet-connected devices during school hours — even during study halls, recess and between classes.

But the law that goes into effect a month from now will be anything but distraction-free if districts and parents don’t prepare themselves and the kids for what’s coming........
