That’s what Bishop Mark O’Connell sees ahead of him as he takes on the immense task of guiding the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany through a rough sea of challenges.

We hope one of his top priorities as he takes over the diocese from retiring Bishop Edward Scharfenberger in December is regaining the trust of the retirees of St. Clare’s Hospital.

The 1,100-plus retirees had dedicated their lives to serving the sick and injured at the hospital, only to learn six years ago........
