Of all the controversies facing the community in the past couple of years, one of the most contentious has been over a library. Yes, a library.

Specifically, the Schenectady County Public Library. And more specifically, a decision made last year by the board of trustees to change the system by which patrons access materials contained in other libraries.

It wasn’t just the decision itself that raised community ire and spurred a public petition drive to overturn it that garnered 1,100 signatures.
