EDITORIAL: Be vigilant to protect your right to fair elections
Free and fair elections.
That’s what we say we have in this country.
But in order for that phrase to be more than just patriotic rhetoric, we need to be aware of what’s necessary to ensure free and fair elections and we need to be vigilant in our efforts to protect them.
Voters should be able to participate in the democratic process without intimidation or coercion by outside forces. And they need to be able to trust that the election process itself is secure, that election workers can conduct elections without interference, and that politicians, political parties and government- and non-government entities can’t manipulate the rules or dictate the outcome.
The success or failure of free elections........
