When a rate increase is approved without a fair and transparent process, it’s not just numbers on a bill — it’s a direct hit to family budgets already stretched thin.

In recent weeks, New Yorkers have been blindsided by a rate hike that was approved without the level of legislative oversight that such a decision demands.

This increase will affect households across our region, from retirees on fixed incomes to working parents juggling multiple jobs to make ends meet.

That’s why I’ve introduced new legislation giving the state Legislature the authority to review — and reverse — this rate hike.

There’s no middle ground here. This increase is wrong, and we must act to stop it.
