Diabetes medications are being illicitly sold on social media, with phrases such as “Offering medication with weight-loss effects.” Peer-to-peer transactions appear to be taking place with medication being used for cosmetic purposes.

Pharmaceuticals inherently carry side effects. Using them without having the disease they are meant for could actually jeopardize one’s health. The central and local governments must strengthen surveillance of illicit sales and take measures to prevent their proliferation.
