The Department for Infrastructure is crossing the line from farce to fantasy.

Monday’s court ruling against the A5 has exposed a blithe belief within the department that it can pretend it will eliminate all transport emissions by pretending to build bike lanes, despite the law requiring it to produce serious plans.

That is only one of this week’s tales from magical fairyland.

Responding to yet another critical report on how NI Water is funded, Sinn Féin infrastructure minister Liz Kimmins yet again insisted the model is “fit for purpose”.
