Fauci's diary release: What he said in private vs. to the public

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a face of the government’s pandemic response, will sit Wednesday morning before a critical Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and the Senate Homeland Security panel to face questions on COVID-19.

The former chief White House medical adviser and longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases will appear days after Paul (R-Ky.) released over 1,000 pages of Fauci’s private diary entries from the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Paul posits the writings prove Fauci discussed the origins of the virus differently in public than he did in private.

The hearing starts at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

The conflict with Iran, in a pause for several days, pushed back into attacks on Tuesday as Iran launched surprise strikes on U.S. targets, and American forces struck back. As the war hits its five-month mark, the Pentagon and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are drawing scrutiny over its increasing opacity about the mounting casualty toll.
